A equipe de fiscalização encontrou crianças realizando a catação de materiais para futura reciclagem, como papelões, plásticos e metais. O serviço era revirar o lixo coletado na cidade e ali despejado com o intuito de encontrar alguma coisa de valor.
Em Nobres, a fiscalização encontrou três crianças acompanhadas da avó realizando a catação, sendo uma de três anos, outra de seis e outra de oito anos. Também foram flagrados adolescentes trabalhando nos lixões.

Conforme os auditores, de uma maneira geral, tanto os adolescentes como os responsáveis legais por eles declararam que a presença dos menores no lixão estava associada ao fechamento das escolas por conta da pandemia.
Afastamento
O SRT/MT determinou o afastamento desses menores do trabalho irregular.
Geraldo Fontana ressalta que, como os lixões são locais de fácil acesso, são abertos e não há qualquer tipo de controle, a Prefeitura deve tomar as providências para coibir a presença dos menores nestes locais.
Em nota, a Prefeitura de Alto Paraguai informou que se constrange diante desta situação e que vai procurar os responsáveis para entender porque os menores estavam no lixão.
Além disso, vai buscar oferecer atendimento social a estas crianças para que esta situação não volte a se repetir.
A Prefeitura de Nortelândia informou que tomou ciência da situação após o contato feito pelos fiscais da superintendência regional do trabalho.
Disse que assim a equipe de assistência social encontrar a família, oferecerá a inclusão das crianças nos programas sociais do município.
A administração pública de Diamantino afirmou que não tem medido esforços para solucionar este problema que já havia sido identificada pela equipe de assistência social e pelo conselho tutelar.
